If it's not one, it's the other

So all is going well with Hen (touch wood) he is hacking out 20 mins quite happily and has gone out in his normal field today no problems.

BUT....

Eric came in tonight with two holes in his head, right to the bone

Which required stiching (and enough sedative to knock 2 shires out!!) and there is a chance of him having chipped the bone!

I don't go to the yard in the evening, so I haven't seen the damage yet, but apparently he looks a bit like Frankenstine at the moment!

He was going to start work again tomorrow after his christamas break, bloody animals!

Oh no!! How did he manage that, daft thing???!!!!

Not a clue, he was only turned out 2 hours!! Going to do some sleuthing in the field tomorrow, I should imagine there will some impressive marks on the field!
We think he possibly got his head stuck under something and panicked.

Poor Eric, maybe he felt left out at not being visited regularly by the vet, then fussed over purely for walking sensibly for 20 mins? Is it Munchausens Syndrome when they damage themselves just for the attention?

Joking apart, I hope he makes a quick recovery but I've still got a spare if you'd like him?

I should work him tomorrow regardless (presuming he's not stil sleeping it off...

). Head damage looks worse than it is and doesn't affect anything important (especially in TBs

) so tell him that his excuse isn't good enough and get on with it!

It's on his poll where his bridle would sit (I think) Hence not being able to ride him.
Hopefully it will have knocked some sense into him

Just the other day I was defending him, saying he wasn't as stupid as everyone said, then he goes and does this!

I hae suddenly been reminded why I DIDN'T want another TB!

Baydale - The spare is always wanted here

Presuming he can manage to graze without cutting his head off, and gallop without breaking his bloody leg!

I think it's the lick that's done it! Hen got bought a one of those Horslyxx for when he was on box rest to try and keep him occupied. The TB's are always trying to get in Hen's stable to get to it, so clearly they are now trying to find ways of getting themselves on box rest so they get bought one of their own!

Only guessing but...did you mention to him that he would be starting work?

It sounds like when I used to tell my boy we were competing the next day. Hey Ho! He would remove a shoe! I swear it was deliberate!

Seriously though, hope he is ok.

Eric and Blitz are both definitely now in contention for the best "How the Hell Did They Do That!" Award 2009.

Wishing him a speedy recovery!

Poor you (and poor Eric).

Our two horses are the same, not a sign of the vet all year, and since November we have had at least one visit per week.

Fingers crossed it heals up quickly.
