no matter what i did his legs were going ten to the dozen and he was leaping around everytime he spotted something happening- like a person walking next to the arena

very annoying! he had a day off yesterday so putting it down to that- he's normally quite sweet in the school- but he's off to camp tonight for 3 days so suspect he might regreat having to be ridden for an hour today!

(had only been planning a quick walk, trot and canter to get his legs moving

haha! Please it wasnt just mine that was like that! I had convinced myself there was something wrong with her, but actually, she was just being an argumentative git!! She has decided throwing her head aroung whenever you touch her mouth (her teeth have been checked!) and trotting round at 300mpm is THE way forward

She did eventually soften and relax... and she didnt have the day before off as an excuse

i think with mine i need to remember that if he's not been ridden the day before he needs 20 mins on the lunge in side reins before i even bother trying to get on. this seems to do the trick with him

My 4yr old is exactly the same! Last night he decided to nose at someone who was poo picking so every single time we got to the top of one long side of the school he stuck his head in the air to have a good old nose!

Took me 45 minutes and a large amount of patients to get some decent work out of him. I do have to admit though that when he worked he was smashing!

On Saturday in the school every last side or corner had a monster on it so we spent the majority of our time doing three strides forward then shooting to the side, being made to come back to the track and then we started again!

Remind me again why I didn't buy a 9yr old?

erm...because at least when they are babies and being ar$eholes you have an excuse. when they are 9 and behave like this they are simply just ar$eholes!

Mine is 14, and was a total pillock in the school today as well! Was raining, so I took him into the indoor, but any noise other than the normal rain sounds (such noises are common when your arena is surrounded by trees) meant he had to spin round and speed towards the door. Gave in after this happened a few times and took him into the outdoor, where he took exception to the rain - it is impossible to school a horse that has its head tipped sideways!

Grrrrrr
