Trust horses, my boy had new shoes today, went to ride him a little serval hrs later, and he was lame, could tell which front foot so to be really helpfull he holds his legs up for me!!! Just spoken to the farrier and he says that the hoof was a little soft (he has really bad feet, the farrier does a great job) so give him a day or so and see, but it just so annoying when I want to ride!!!!

Have you spoken with the farrier about anything you could do to help improve his feet? For example, supplementation. Formula 4 Feet is very good and will strengthen the hoof wall and improve the growth rate.

Also any dressings that might help. My farrier recommends Kevin Bacon, but if your horse has soft feet you might be better off using Keratex hoof hardener, but just at the bottom around the nail holes. This will also help to disinfect that area where disease can set in.

A good farrier is definitely important, but there are things you can do as well. Maybe you already are. I hope it's just a bit of nail prick and your horse feels better soon, but do keep an eye on it. Your farrier ought to come out and look if he is lame for more than a day.
