Why is it always a Friday night, bank holiday or other totally pants time for an accident to happen?

Walking the creatures earlier in the woods and I noticed Bear appeared to have a red belly: called him back and his right fore paw was dripping blood. He's ripped his right index equivalent pad in a big deep V. It's an awkward place so I've irrigated, disinfected, wrapped animalintex round it and bandaged him up. I doubt there's much that a vet could do different:confused: and having panicked slightly and phoned them, they're closed (outrageous!:D)

Here's a picture of the poor little lamb who has quickly perfected the 'woe is me' look and the 'here is my bad paw' stance:rolleyes:

That's two of the little demons in lampshades for Christmas as Brig is obsessively licking and the only anti-lick product I can find wraps round-not good for man bits!

Poor bear hope hes ok.The only other thing I can think of is anti biotics you seem to have covered everything else.Hope it heals quickly:o

I considered the antibiotics but as the vet was closed, I thought we'd cope with hibiscrub etc. He has vet wound powder (overkill?!) and it's now more secure in vet wrap and masking tape, all purple, naturally!

dont over hibiscrub tbh, or put wound powder etc. on it. ensure it's clean and well dresse d and nature will do the rest

Leave out the wound powder please, just flush with saline or pevidine dilute ,dry and wrap, then it can granulate from inside.Dogs always amaze me how they granulate so fast over quite ghastly wounds, amazing healing powers!

I've left the wound itself completely alone since initial irrigation except to re-bandage when his brother helpfully pulled off the lot. He's coping well with his bed rest (think Zak would be awful!) and he's weight bearing much better today.

Managed to borrow a roll of vet wrap, having run out and cleared the duct tape shelf in Asda-got some curious looks!

I caved and took him to the vet.:o The alteration showed no sign of knitting and right enough, the vet will be stitching. :( Poor Bear-cub. I'm hoping we get him back soon cos we're off to Newcastle tomorrow!
