Well what a day! My yard is usually a lovely chilled out affair with just a couple of other liveries and we all get on. However, one family do have a pony which they turn up to ride every once in a blue moon. The kids are spoilt rotten and usually bring equally precocious friends with them. Today was one such day when we were honoured by their presence. Anyway, cue much running round the yard and flapping about. I had just bought my normally very sensible boy in and was picking his feet....and even he got spooked...snatching his very large shod hind hoof out of my hand and staight down onto my foot. I thought I was going to pass out and had to sit on a bale for a while. It now has swelling on it half the size of a tennis ball and boy does it hurt. I don't THINK it is broken as I can just about walk on it.

Then to cap it all off, when I had recovered enough to go and lunge the hoss as planned, the lovely kids decided to go and visit my filly. I could hear them while I was in the school and when I got out she was charging around like a lunatic in an already slippy field.

Pointless ranty post I know.. but..gggrrrrrrrrr  :o

And it was still too foggy to ride out

Oh my life!

Did no-one tell them to stop running about and shouting when on the yard or in the fields?

My YO's grandson was riding his bike around the stable yard sometime ago and he got severely told off by a livery. He ran off to tell grandma, who promptly sent him to his room to think about what he had done and why it was wrong - and this was a child brought up around ponies LOL!

Next time they visit if similar starts to happen then someone will have to say something. You got hurt today, and next time it could be one of the kids getting hurt and guess who will get the blame
