Can anyone recommend a cheap way to keep my neighbours sheep off my field? I am resting it for the winter, and the little blighters are pushing through 3 strands of electric rope to get at my nicely growing grass!!!

We have post and rail, so have put the wires underneath the bottom rail but nothing seems to deter them. The owner of said 'grass thieves' is a a nice farmer, but as he helps me out by taking my muck away, and is up to his eyeballs with shearing, don't wan't to hassle him atm.

The stretch of fencing is approx 150 mts long so to stock fence it would cost a fortune, so any other suggestions welcomed (shotgun springs too mind, after having chased them out 3 times already today.......)
 
Im sorry but without stock fencing it you wont keep them out, electric fencing doesnt stop them particularly if they still have their winter woolies. Sorry.
 
Sheep are buggers for keeping out!

Is there a ditch that you could try and fence by cutting thorny bushes and pushing them into the holes with a pitch fork? This wouldnt cost anything and I find it very effective for plugging gaps in the fence. If there is no ditch there to fence then Im afraid the only way is to put up a good roll of sheep wire :( .

Electric sheep netting nailed on and dug in will be about the only thing once theyve realised they can get through. Id still tell the farmer, his responsibility at the end of the day - he should be able to move their fields until he has time to sort his fencing.

Have found some 2ft stock fencing on the internet that should fill the gap under the post and rail, and won't break the bank too much.

GGrider - couldn't agree more -the only lambs I want to see are on my dinner plate!!!
