.........close enough!!! Er ETS that i realise i wrote BE twice in title but it won't let me edit it - stupid new forum!!!!!

Not much in way of reports form me recently as we haven't BE'd since he hurt himself at Larkhill over a month ago. Mattingley last week was a disaster - i had to retire show jumping as i nearly passed out and couldn't see/here. I wondered if i had totally lost the plot with show jumping but we think it was more likely heat sroke from the ridiculous temperature. None the less it was the last straw with my show jumping nerves - i went clear round jumping mid-week to try and get going again and burst into tears at the start of a 2'6 round!!!! It did trick in end though and with a fab jump lesson on friday under our belt we headed off to Borde Hill today just a tiny bit unsure!!!!!!!!!! Tbh i was going to bottle it and get my friend/teacher to ride him today but she couldn't in the end so it was either get back on the horse (literally) or withdraw......

Arrived with loads of time to walk and look at sj - both tracks decent but lovely and inviting. SJ is always tricky there as on a hill and xc is big in all classes but beautifully built. Seriously impressed with ground - almost perfect which is amazing with so little rain.

Off to dressage - B got very excited on walk over as horse walking in front of us spooked and dumped his rider and then bu**ered off - causing great excitement with the others (rider was fine). Not the best test ever - in fact one of his worst. I just never had his full attention which is irritating as its ruined our 29 average this year. Got 35.5 which i was fair but annoying, turns out was 6th after dressage though so not too shabby i guess.

Onto show jumping, to say i was nervous was an understatement!!!!! Can't believe i was jumping Discoveries this winter, seems ages ago!!!!!! With a fab kick up bum from the lovely rising_promise i headed over to warm up and soon my go. Was thrilled to finish on 8 faults - 1 pole his fault, 1 pole mine (awful riding to last when i got a bit excited!!!) but today was about completing and no show jump disasters!!!!!! So far so good............

Onto the best bit - he's only been xc once this year so wasn't sure how looky he'd be but he was awesome!!!!!!!! We got some slightly deep shots at a couple but he's so bloody quick in front it's not a problem, tbh he's just running to the bottom of the smaller xc fences now. 1,2 fine, 3 bit deep, 4, 5 lovely, 6 fine, had a look at 7 as right next to warm up and bit distracted but fine, turned to roll top and now filled in ditch at 8 which caused carnage last year and popped through. Got confused on way to 8 and 9 which was double of angled hedges and ended up approaching from left to right rather than right to left!!! So rather than yank him 90 degrees in a 2 stride double i looped back to second part (numbered separately). Very deep to big table at 11 as gazing at jump judges lunch (B not me!!!) but get picked up and pinged us out of trouble, HUGE hedge oxer at 13 fine (literally up to me shoulders!!). Beautiful though skinny log drop to big-ish hanging log on curve. Hopped hedge hog, hanging log, splash through water....another big hedge and the last...........feels like he really loves the xc job now and was a pleasure to ride!!!

To say i was thrilled is an understatement!!!!!!!

Video of first 3 fences....

Finished with 14 time which sounds like a lot but average was 5-8 (always hard to get time at BH) and we worked out without my long route i'd have been on about 9/10 which isn't far of mark. He was going clear with 18/20 time at the end of last year and i didn't push for time at all today - it was all about having fun and completing!!! So we'll be plenty fast enough i'm sure, he's just got faster as he's got confident with the job - he was loving it today!!!!

Bit of an essay but i have pink wine and aftersun (i will never learn!!!!) for anyone who made it!!!!!!!!! I'm now not eventing until mid-august as i'm getting married in 7 weeks and broke as a badger then going away for 2 weeks. So so so soooooooooooooooooo pleased with my pony today!!!!!!

I have videos of all three phases but they are being SOOOOOOOOOOO slow to upload so may post them later.

Fantastic what a lovely way to finish your last event before a bit of a break :) well done.

Wow, bet you must be thrilled to bits. If you had let someone else ride him, you probably would have been gutted as you know you're more than capable. I'm SO envious watching the XC... it's such a beautiful place!

Lovely to finish on a good note x

Fran - thanks :). I so wanted to end on good note so i wasn't thinking about it whilst i'm not doing it!!!

M - Thanks but you had a fabby day too!!

Ta firewell - i was actually terrified but so glad i did it!

HH - it is so lovely there, such a gorgeous day :)

Super! So very very pleased for you. That's a fab run to finish on before your wee break. Hold on to that feeling from today and I'm sure you'll come back out in August full of confidence :)

A huge well done on conquering the sj wobbles, what a great way to finish before a break.

If we cant have pics of the lovely B for a while, can we have some of your wedding please? Hope you have a fantastic day:)

Well done!

I went down today, seemed to be marking dressage very tough and very wide range! Time was quite tight not many people seemed to make it in!!

Well done, I'd love to have a score of 35.5 as a "good day" score, never mind a "bad day" one! ;) Glad you got round the SJ and hope your nerves will be better next time now you know you can do it. XC sounds like he was fab, very well done. :)

L I'm just over the moon for you!! So so happy you had such a lovely time yesterday! I practically jumped for joy in the secretary's when I saw you result! You absolutely deserved to have a good day, you've done your homework and it's paid off. Very well done you :D Blue pony looks awesome in the videos, really enjoying his job :D

Am so delighted to read that - I saw Mattingley hadn't gone well (I was scanning the results for another horse, honest!!) and felt for you...

I am absolutely certain you and your pingy blue pony will completely conquer your SJ gremlins and it sounds like you are well on your way :) Am so glad that Brook (I asume it is still him) is helping so much ;) What a great way to finish your "spring campaign", a few weeks off eventing will do the pair of you no harm at all and you'll come out flying in the autumn :) :)

Well done, it is tricky getting on with it after a bad one - unfortunatley, I am getting quite practiced at this!!!
All the best for your wedding, hope you have a good day

Lou i forgot to say - i heard about your whoopsie!!!!!! At the jump judges meeting yesterday morning they were talking about someone who'd missed out that fence and couldn't work out how anyone had managed it......then Sue told me it was you!!!!!!!!! Hehe..................... :) :) :) :p

oh well done...its so difficult when your confidence has had a knock to keep focusssed on what you are doing! :D
