I have an Arab gelding and i was wondering if Blue Chip is worth feeding as an overall supplement? he is a good doer though so i dont want him to get fat will this make him put on weight? And does it really work as I want him to be in tip top condition any advice?

Also has anyone tried Keratex hoof hardner??
thank you and any replys welcome

I found my cob did too well on the original so im on lami light in summer and mostly blue chip original in winter. I thought it was great stuff though, seemed to be much better than just a vit and min supplement!

My friend used it on her horse for a couple of months and she didnt see much change, but now she's got him on some sort of conditioning cubes, i think they are made by Allen and Paige, they have kept him looking lovely, Barley rings are good.

Oh, i put a post about the hoof hardner last week... i got many responses, and the general idea was that it was ok in the short term but can make the hoofs brittle....... Hope that helps. I decided against it...

Haven't tried the Keretex but I rate Blue Chip highly; have used it many times. Although it can help with weight gain if fed with other stuff, ideally you should drop the amount of other feed once you have reached the weight you need as BC has everything in it a horse should need. It's great for coat and skin condition and hooves seem to improve with it too.
Although quite expensive, you feed so little it does last a fair time and you save a bit by not needing so much other food. It's well worth a try, you should see improvement after about six weeks which means you should have only just started a second bag! It might help if you took before and after pic's to compare.
