Hiya, just a few questions about feed balancers. Does anyone use them?
I've been looking at Blue chip and Top spec and just wondered how long does a bag usually last you? Do you have to use the feed alone or mix it with another? As they are quite expensive. Also are they worth using on my 'normal' horse? As on their websites the before and after pictures are of horses in very poor condition. Is there any that you can reccomend? thanks guys!! xxxxxxxxxxxx

I use TopSpec. Started much against my better judgement as then new horse needed "something" and refused all supplements, no matter what! Got a free sample which she actually ate, so went for it. I now spend LESS on hard feed than with previous horse, even though new one is bigger and prices are higher. She also looks good, is happy and healthy, and feet much improved. She has little else, which suits her as she's a slow eater with small appetite. Friends also switched to it but have to watch as it can make good doers even better doers... it lasts as long as they say on the bag for the amounts you use, but I actually use a little less.

I really rate top spec and have had all my horses on it at some stage, normally when they are babies and building up! It is very economical to feed, keeps them looking really well and improves their coat/hooves in my experience :) I used it and cool condition cubes on my mare when I first got her, but she is now a complete fatty and has bulked up beautifully, so she doesn't need any help ;) It can make some horses a bit sharp... so worth considering :p

Yep I also use top=spec, brilliant feed, i use less then the RDA as got a good doer in just the right condition and i find it alot cheaper than the 2 mixes i was using before. I feed mine with a little bit of chaff, its also saved on supplements as well as i dont think my boy needs them now.
