Is Blue Chip all its cracked up to be?

Ive been trying to put weight on Baron for a while and not having much luck. I am currently feeding him Barley, speedi beet, alfa oil, pink powder & soya oil.

The reason I dont use a mix as Pink Powder is the only thing I have found that keeps his poo from being loose and as it contains all the vits etc he does not need a mix aswell.

Now I believe blue chip have all the things that pink powder contain but im reluctant to get a bag if its not going to work.

So has anyone used it with good effect?

someone also mentioned topspec to me, anyone used this? I have used topspec comprehensive supplement with no significant difference.

But surely if you are trying to put weight on him, then it's not just about the vitamins, and it is worth feeding him a mix?

Yes but if I give him a mix aswell as the pink powder I will be giving him far too many vitamins/minerals. His droppings are very very loose without a good vit/mineral supplement so ive kept him on the pink powder as thats all thats worked so far.

After speaking to the vet she said to keep him on Pink Powder if it works.

But someone told me that Blue Chip contains pre/probiotics etc along with all the vits etc.

I have had him on mixes before and prefer feeding what I feed, but with all the poor grazing at the moment he has lost a little weight so I would like to try something different. But I dont want to spend £30 on a bag if its not all its cracked up to be.

I use Blue CHip and its fantastic. Different things work for different horses, but my mare has put on lots of weight since being on Blue CHip. L

I have tried BLue Chip, Topspec and baileys Lo cal. The one I have found works is the Baileys Lo cal and at around £19 a bag it is cheaper! I would speak to Baileys directly for recommended amounts,

I'd recommend Blue Chip, it put on conditioner for my horse when he was young and recovering from a box rested foot injury.

Blue chip is a balancer pink powder is not.

My personal preferance for weight gain is Topspec balancer alfa A oil and grass nuts haqd great sucess earlier this year with my girl

Good luck

I feed Top Spec comprehensive balancer, and Topspec cool and condition cubes. My boy put on lots of condition, but as he is a coldy custard, he looked a little lean again when we had some cold nights. Also his grazing is not brill at the moment so i have just started giving him some speedi beet now. He is lokking great again after just a few days.
Give Topspec a ring they are very helpful

I use Blue Chip Original in my gelding's feed. he has a feed & a measure of Blue chip in each one. It works for my lad, he looks well, he's up to weight & with the work we do with him he has lovely topline.

There are other balancers on the market, some are cheaper & may do the same for my lad as the Blue Chip does but I've found a product that does the job on my lad & so I'll stay with it.

As for how long does it last, well mine lasts for ages, it's an balancer/additive so you don't feed it in anything like the quantities that you do with your normal mixes. Additionally you may find that it may take longer than on bag to see a marked difference in your animal.

As has been said Pink Powder is not a balancer so you cannot really compare the two
