I've been given two sacks of Blue chip. Now Murph is a 15.2" LW Cob Gelding age 13 Good doer, fed on Spillers Happy Hoof, Spillers Hi Fi, Cod Liver oil and Cortaflex. I know that blue chip adds condition but I have read it has other qualities aswell, improving coat, calming, hoof growth etc etc. Murph is looking a bit dull (prob time of year) and he is by no means at his fattest do you all think I'd be mad to try him on it? I should add due to lighter evenings his work load is also about to increase!

As blue chip is a balancer which includes all the vits & mins he needs, if you are feeding the manufacturers recommended amounts of Happy Hoof, you would need to cut this down a bit and you wouldn't need to feed the cod liver oil. As a guide, my two big horses have a balancer (either Blue Chip or Top Spec) through the winter which keeps their condition tip top and then in the summer they have a vit & min supplement instead. The blue chip should certainly improve Murph's condition - I'd give it a go if I was you.

bluechip it's self doesn't add condition, what it does is to help the horse digest it's food better and make more use out of it, so if you do use the stuff you can cutdown on any hard feed, lots of good doers are fed on the recommended amount of blue chip and a handful or so of chaff, and plenty of good hay, this is the way horses have evolved to eat.

As lilym says Blue Chip will assist your horse to get the most out of what he is being fed. It should improve his coat & condition. If you use it in conjunction with good schooling you will see his condition improve. I've noticed a big difference with my lad over the time I've used it. Toi find out more check out their website.

That is a nice gift being given a couple of bags of Blue Chip....somewhere around £70 worth... nice friend

Mine has been muzzled for months and months as he's lami prone and a very good doer- there was a point when I was a bit concerned about him having a bit of a tummy ache tho so I decided to ask my instructor who was a nutrition lecturer what she thought. He's been on the lami light stuff now for about 8 months and he's doing really well on it.

Good luck and i'm sure you'll see an improvement.
