Hi

I just read this press release on the Blue Hors website which states that they have lost their amazing mare Blue Hors Matine. It seems she was put to sleep today after having having broken her front leg by the knee.

Matine has so many fans all over the world after her fantastic WEG performance with Andreas Helgestrand.

Matine fans can read more here:

Nothing is posted yet on their English newspage but I suppose they may post a press release here in English later http://www.bluehors.net/cms/index.php?changelang=2&idcat=6

OMG how sad

she was such a talented mare.

Oh how very very sad. The video of her winning the championship brings a lump to my throat as it is so good. I can't believe it. Such a shame :-(

Can't believe it. Truly a horse that went before her time. Tragic that we lost her from competition so early in her career, but devastating that she won't be having foals either. She really was a star!

If there is anyone out there who hasn't seen this amazing video - here it is Matine WEG video

Same here, stunning mare that could dance and has given so much pleasure to many, me included who don't always see the point of dressage! Very sad for her connections.

Was she not in foal? Anyone know who she'd been covered by? My friend and I ask out of curiosity, any foals out of her would have been legendary

Foal was due anytime - How sad :-(

Possibly a silly question but if she had been due to foal anytime is there a chance they could have removed the foal and hand reared it? Such a shame.

i guess that if there had been any chance of keeping her alive (in slings etc) long enough to foal they might have, but she must have been too badly injured. truly tragic.

must admit i'm surprised that they put such a valuable, wonderful mare out with a gelding...
poor girl. R.I.P. Matine.

Isn't it possible to do a caesarian though? When I worked in an equine vets we had a mare with an abdominal rupture. As soon as the foal was viable, she was anaesthetised, the foal removed then the mare PTS. Maybe she just wasn't close enough.

My most favorate dressage horse of all time. She always looked like she was dancing and wanted to perform. I just showed my boss who is into showing and hates dressage the video of her. Normaly she watches a few seconds of dressage videos just to keep me happy (then moans about the way the horses are going) But she watched that video all the way through and actualy enjoyed it. I cryed more than i normaly do watching her. What a loss to the dressage world. My thoughts are with her connections.
RIP

It says on the horseandcountry tv report that she was "just about to foal" - how sad that they weren't able to save the foal either
