I haven't watched it for ages, but felt like giving myself a treat so watched the you tube footage of Blue Hors Matine and Andreas Helgstrand at WEG 2006 in the freestyle.

It's so moving, I always find myself smiling and having a little tear in my eye - she just looks so happy to be dancing around the arena!

Such a shame we were denied seeing much more of her.

The other one I really like is a woman riding an Andalusian at some sort of outdoor evening entertainment display, basically doing no hands dressage and flamenco at the same time - I can't find it - anyone know what I mean? I thought the horse was called Joie or Jao or something like that! (sounds strange I know, but it is really lovely to watch)

Anyway, got me thinking, what are your favourite horsy clips - share 'em!

I'm with you Rhino, the video of that set to Vangelis is amazing.

I know there has been a lot of negative press about this horse but for me it has to be Edward Gal and Totilas, it actually brought tears to my eyes when I first saw it

sorry can someone fill me in on the negative press about the horse ? :o

Mine is Rafeal Soto andrade at the Athens Olympics. I was studying for my accountancy exams and I kept getting texts from my non horsey friends about it. I remember the BBC showed the test a number of times as people kept requesting it. Link to it is below

Thankfully I passed my exams

This has got to be one of my favs too !!! the other clip that brings the hairs up at the back of my neck is a small clip in the 'Thrills and spills' video if Ian Stark and Murphy Himself bouncing the one stride combination ! Amazing

I am unsure if you are being serious or sarcastic, but if serious I will try to answer: he is labelled as a 'leg mover' that is to say that his hind and foreleg action is mismatched (much higher foreleg action and timing) also reputed to have been trained using Rollkur and people have serious concerns for his longterm welfare/health due to the stress on his joints etc at such a young age. He is already shod in heartbars.

Love Stacy Westfall and the one of the horses being rescued from the island is wonderful - dunno if any of you have Goshka Ringo progeny, but it was his sire, King, that was one of the ridden horses that lead them to safety!

I don't mind the Parelli one - the guy and the horse are in tune; think I prefer the ridden sections to the ground work. However I think Stacy Westfall for example, looks just as in tune with her horse, or perhaps a wee bit more, without the need for a Parelli label, but as something to watch, it's interesting :)

My opinion on Parelli is that some of it is nice and useful, the rest is just money making evangelism and from what I have seen, can be a bit scary in terms of welfare - I keep thinking of that clip with Mrs Parelli-Pants long-lining that one eyed horse and continually hitting it in the face with the metal clip :(

Balagur is lovely and characterful.......out of interest, do you think you would get his sort of colour if you bred a bay coloured to a grey (see my avatar)? Just wondering if that sort of dilute coloured might emerge - must be a nightmare with sunburn! I'm not sure what is dominant in terms of the associated genes, apart from the fact that grey is a follicle ageing, not colour gene. I'm sure someone could enlighten me and I'm interested as some day I *might* consider breeding my WB loud coloured mare (loads of white) with my Luso grey boy to produce me a nice medium sized riding horse and I was wondering what might emerge. Her breeder said that most folk don't breed coloureds to greys.....

Have a play with this http://www.horsetesting.com/CCalculator1.asp :) You would need to know if your mare is heterozygous or homozygous though.

Cheers Rhino - I'm guessing she would be hetero......both parents were, but no guarantee! Will play with it anyway!

Just done it - good fun.....lots of options come out, all at about 8% likelihood!

Thanks for the explanation, I'm more into show jumping so don't know the ins and outs of the dressage world.
That video is painfull to watch. I was only aware of anky public ally using rollkur as a training method, it really is horrible :/

I saw this one posted in another forum recently. Lovely show at liberty on the beach...

P.S. How do you insert YouTube links so the clip actually shows embedded on the page?

Some wonderful person told me how this week. You do this.....

Take the numbers and letters from the video z61F6iWWcHc
and put it in the middle of [ YOUTUBE ] .......... [/YOUTUBE] - all in one line (where the dots are, without any gaps.

you type [*youtube*]
then when you put the link in, you want all the letters after the "youtube.com/watch?v=" (so in your case it would be "z61F6iWWcHc")
after that you type [*/youtube*] but without the ** :)

Thank you, both! :)

Here's that clip again. Looks like the pony was clicker trained (or maybe just with food rewards).

And the simple joy of a horse who loves his slave:)
