Very quick report from Saturday.
Warmed up nicely but it was very busy so slightly unsettling. Walked down to the warm up closely followed by someone walking their horse in hand who then proceeded to stand next to the arena and leave before the bell went. Slightly unsettling but fortunately Patrick didn't take any notice. Up the centre line for elem 50, remembered to halt but got beeped. I was somewhat bemused until the judge leant out and told me I had saluted with my whip hand

oops. Very kindly she had beeped me for it so I didn't do it again at the end and lose 6 marks.
The test felt very rushed and was reflected in the marks gaining us 62.?% and 5th place.
Warmed up nicely for the next test (elem 57) and went in remembering to salute with the other hand this time, did a nice accurate test if slightly wobbly leg yields but was very pleased with him. Waited around for the results to find we had won the class on 60% (how low were those scores?!). So all in all I was very pleased with him.

Hmm, you learn something new every day - I never realised it was classified as an error to salute with your whip hand! Sounds like a good day though, he's getting handy in those elems!

That is great Jo C!! Excellent result bet you are very pleased!!!I did this before, ie salute with whip hand... then got severely told off by my friends... never told me before though.. how are we suppose to know... does it say in Rule book???!!! Or maybe that is another paragraph I missed!!!

It is in the rule book, I went back to the lorry and checked. I thought it was a little harsh to lose 2 marks over but rules is rules. Must read rule book more carefully in the future!

Thank you - he does seem to prefer the elems but I just wish I could get my scores up a little higher. Still, back to practising and you never know we might even break the 65% one day!

Oooh - I didn't think it would be classed as an error either - wrong but not marks off!

Well done anyway - silly judges should hitch their marks up a bit!

Well done. I've done that before too, I always carry my whip in right and salute with left then confused myself by swapping whip over!!

I got hollered at by my instructor for saluting with the wrong hand - and i am absolutely at the bottom of the barrel dressage-wise!

Many congrats on your win though. It is my ambition to compete at Elementary one day.
