ok i got my horse these in the summer but now evey time he wears the front ones the right hind rubs the pastern at the front just at the top edge of the dial
Ive tried loosening the boot, and tried a pastern wrap but it doesnt have the footplate and still rubs even with the front piece as it just wont stay still, and the wrap is a little small will only just do up he has 9.5"bone on the front
The boot is very snug to put on, doesnt twist and takes a bit of a tug to remove,
all three other boots are fine dont twist move or rub
on the whole im very pleased with them horse is sound in them was unlevel in shoes so would like to persevere

does any one have any ideas on how to correct this rubbing
thank you

Try athletic tape on the inside of the boot the white simple stuff, about 2 quid a role. If that doesn't work, sand the sole down to make it as smooth as possible. Less traction would cause less of a rub if his foot twisting. Remember thet a rubber sole gives more traction than a steel shoe on tarmac, be aware that rubbing could also mean increased torsion though the joints.

Have you tried him without back boots on? Most horses seem to cope very well - even my hopeless TB who pretty much always has boots in front very rarely needs them behind aswell.

thankyou sorry the rubbing is only on his off fore not the hind foot, it isnt at the coronet its higer up the pastern level with the top edge of the dial i havnt tried tape where would i buy it from
would any other type of gaiter work or a pastern wrap from prolite or ww?

he needs the back boots at the moment for driving and he was shod for 7 yrs and has really thin flat soles, his heels were running under and was becoming long toed, also his left fore was 1/2 inch shorter from coronet to floor than he left fore and a lot smaller
he was loading the left shoulder and feeling not quite right everyone told me thats just how he and his feet are and not to worry
shoes were removed end of august and was sound as a bell without them straight away with no shoulder loading until his feet wore down too much so he went foot sore
He does however feel every bit of gravel and i think his feet are soft and just wear away too quick
before he was shod when he was 7 he used to go over evey surface with fantastic hard feet but then we started driving him more and he just couldnt cope and i shod him hes now 15 Ive had him since he was 6months you could not get a rasp or nippers trough his feet they were so tough

We also have a mile at least of roads each way to cover before we get to the tracks so i dont feel leaving them off will help him at the moment

my welsh d also had his shoes off end of august and he is doing everything he did with shoes hacking and driving fine over the roads and only a bit footy over stones but his sole has cuved up well, (he wasnt holding shoes for more than 2 weeks)

Is is rubbing as in pressing or just surface rubbing? A strip of duct tape stuck to the hair will stop it if it's surface rub. If it's pressing then try gluing a strip of mousemat to the inside of the tounge (sounds like it's the top of the tounge that's rubbing?) to lift the whole thing away from the pastern.

its rubbing and making a round spot with a bit of blood but hasnt removed the hair
on a human it would probably be a graze or burst blister
when the boot is on and fastened the tonuge is away from the skin but as he walks and the foot goes under his body the tongue touches the pastern
