Has anyone had any experience with these?
Can you use them on both front and hind feet?

Thing is, i've decided to leave Ted trimmed without shoes as I find that ever injury he has is due to him mangeling his shoes off. He is a TB and at the moment is on rest after a Tendon injury. However, he will be coming back into work in September and I really dont want shoes back on. I have looked at these and they seem like very good purchase.. any thought

(Oh and having him shoeless saves me 55 quid a month cause I can trim him myself!)

Yes, I have used Boa for my previous horse, and present horse. They both have good feet but the amount of road work I do meant their feet just couldn't/can't keep up.

I've used them both front and back no trouble.

Going barefoot can work brilliantly for many horses and him being off work is a great oppertunity. But you can't just rip the shoes off and hope for the best, unless he has good feet.

If he's a TB who keeps pulling his shoes off he most likely has flat feet, thin soles, underrun heel and a whiteline infection (pretty standard in most TB's). They're easily enough sorted with time but they do need work.

Have you had a look into proper Barefoot trimming? There's a huge amount of information. Type in something like Equine Podietry, or Barefoot and you'll get plenty of information.

Boa boots are best for round, wide feet. If he's got narrower feet (esp behind) he might be better with some other type of boots, like the Epic, Old Macs or G2s. Have a look here for the different types http://www.easycareinc.com/our_boots/whatboot.aspx. There are pro's and cons for all types, depending on his foot shape.

Going barefoot, whilst much cheaper in the long run (Kalli costs £50 a front set for shoes! ) involves a lot of hard work and dedication. It's guarenteed not to work if you don't put time and effort in

I agree with Boas being good ! my barefoot girlie has had the same set for 18mths. But she does have flat round regular feet, so might depend on shape of hoof.

Theyve never come off come mud, streams, rocks or anything, and the dial tightener is very easy to just ensure they are snugly on.

Another vote for Boa - I've used mine both as an emergency boot on an endurance ride and as a turnout boot for an abscess, and it works brilliantly. Simply to put on/take off, very secure, it doesn't swivel and the horses seem comfortable in it.

Hello
I did loads of research into this a couple of weeks ago as my ponio has very wide but short feet. I ended up getting the marquis boots on hire which seemed great but just didn't fit - such a shame as was really impressed with them and their customer service! I found this site too who also rent out boots which seems to be the best way to make sure they are going to fit before coughing up the £100 or so!

Good luck
