Anyone used these for riding with and do they stay on okay? My horse is always losing shoes and doesn't go well being unshod, wondering if these may be the answer.
I use them and they are great. I also use Old Macs G1's and G2's, all on different horses. The key to using boots is to get the fit right - if you don't, you'll just get frustrated. Have a look at the EasyCare website, they have a lot of info on sizing and fitting. My horses hack (including galloping) and jump in their boots with no problems. I've heard good things about the Cavallos, but I tried Marquis and hated them.
Hope that helps!
I use them and although they stay on really well, the grip is rubbish.
I'm looking at alternatives but the only boots what will fit my lads hooves are the Old Macs G1's and I don't like the look of the design on them so for now I'm stuck with the Boas.
I like the sound of the Cavallos and Gloves too but my horses feet are just too wide for them.
I did use them on my youngster and they were fine. They can rub a bit, just depends on your horse's confirmation really how they fit. Each boot has it's good and bad points. But the boas did stay on and my horse did not find it weird at all having them on. Also the spare parts are easy to replace and cheap!! Make sure you get the newer design that has little holes in the bottom of the boots as it lets water out if you hack through a stream or any water really.
I still have my size 3 in cupboard, they are in great nick as used only for 6 months, pm me if you interested.
boa's are great easy top put on etc been using them on my boy for years, the old macs are good to i find they have a much better grip than the boas but are a bit more effort to get on.
The boa and old mac shapes are diffrent so i would go with the one the best suits your horse
I love boa boots, have two pairs. My horse is new to barefoot, 12 weeks to be precise and he is doing fab. He to used to pull his shoes for a passtime and its taken me years to take the plunge, now with the results I wish Id done it years ago. Good luck!
