When i go in to catch Tia, i'm normally faced with a gobby moo who has in the last 8 months kicked me - i couldn't ride for about 3 days and this week, bitten me twice result in my arm being pretty much unusable as it is so bruised and the skin is so badly broken. She is always like this - very tempremental and I wouldn't trust her ever. How can I keep her away from me in the field?

I used to take a spare lead rope with me, then you can wave them out the way with out getting to close, but also you wont hurt them, also a loud voice!!

I've had similar situations when I've had horses in livery and I'm afraid I used to take a schooling whip with me and whack them if necessary. I'm not normally one for using whips but your safety is paramount and tough luck if the owners don't like it.

My YO tells me to grab a handful of loose mud and throw it at them - not the bum end though, that would be a gaurenteed way to get kicked!
it worked after a few times the kicking/bargy beast stays well clear of me now - only problem is the owner asked me to take its rug off today and he wont let me near him!
