Body Protector for Jumping?

Had my first lesson in jumping and absolutely loved it!

I'm hoping I'll get to do more jumping in the future and was wondering if it would be worth investing in a body protector? Admittedly I won't be jumping massive poles for a while yet but I do know I'm more likely to fall off whilst jumping! I've fallen off a couple of times and walked away unscathed so it's nothing new, but is it worth the investment or should I wait till I start tackling bigger fences before thinking of a body protector?

I wear mine every time I jump, even at home

I just got a Racesafe one and it's very comfortable and has been tested twice

I hate the damn things. To be perfectly honest i know I should wear them but I'm more likely to come off with one on! Unfortunalty i'm forced to wear one when jumping at my local riding school.... stupid insurance

If you can get used to one then its probs a good idea tho

Yeah that was one of the reason why I wasn't too sure if I should get one. I can imagine it being such a pain to move around in and knowing my luck I'll probably only fall off when I'm wearing one!

I haven't thought about whether my riding school requires me to wear one for insurance purposes so I'll have to ask them about that.

Thanks for all the replies!

Racesafe ones are great, after the first cople times wearing them you dont notice its on, very light and doesnt restrict your movement- and no im not working for them
I have actually stopped wearing mien a little now, tohugh i used to whenever i got on, im not sure quite why, i just got out ofthe habit

When I fell at a cross country warm up jump (horse reared up, I went out back door) I honestly think it saved my back. I'm suffering with a trapped nerve in my shoulder (which I'm convinced is a result of that) but I honestly think I could have broken my back at the ground was like concrete and I really did fly through the air apparently.

I've known people fall off while show jumping and back protectors have stopped them breaking their backs on the poles.....really is a good idea especially as you get older and don't bounce as much!

I cannot stand the things lol i have caused myself more mischiefs wearing them than not.

If i do any cross country events i will wear one then only because its compulsory.

Dont wear them any other time including hunting
