Im currently sporting a too small and horrid body protector... so i refuse to wear it....

But im starting to do more jumping with my youngster so ive been informed i need one that fits (im yet to hit the deck but i think they are hinting its close....:D ) lol

Any reccomendations??

Depending upon what you want to do?

Affiliated then you will need a level 3 regardless!

Just for your own protection then a point 2 is brilliant! And as mentioned racesafe which is a level 1

aerowear is the way forward! i have an outline one and it is comfy, close fitting, high protection and looks nice too in fact so nice i forget to take it off!

I've got a Champion Flexair. It's quite comfy and supported my back amazingly when I pathetically fell off, landed on my tail bone and broke my back.

DEFINITELY Racesafe for comfort and breathability (very adjustable for big/small boobs! ;) )

It is a Level 3, by the way (at least, that's what it says on the label! ;) )

Incorrect Foraday - The Racesafe RS2000 and RS2010 have level three protection....they are regularly seen on the eventing circuits...

thanks all :)

ive heard of kan?? ones and was told they are really good?

i dont have ahuge budget, however i cant really put aprice on my back i guess!?!

I had a bad fall a few years ago and my back does cause me some discomfort - but i was wearing my BP and i think thats what saved it a tad!

Love my airowear, wasn't as keen on the fit of the racesafe, but you just need to find a brand that suits your shape. I would head to a tack shop that stocks lots of different brands. Don't 'make do' with an uncomfortable one, there is so much choice now that there really is no need to put up with a poorly fitting bp.

Racesafe do a level 1 (for jockeys, in a black mesh) and also a level 3 (for everyone else! available in loads of colours and quatered too!)

Racesafe! I have a crummy Harry Hall one, but it fits me OK.
A word of warning, my old BP was on the large size as I felt it offered more protection. However last year I fell off and elbowed myself in the stomach, forcing the BP into my side and I was so winded I almost lost consciousness, didn;t know where I was etc. Thankfully I was at RC at the time. Hence I got a new smaller BP THEN tried a racesafe and was gutted I hadn't tried one first!!!

I would not expect a racesafe would be able to wind you due to it's more free-moving structure, so I will definitely be getting one when my current one gives out.

Another vote for Racesafe bought one at badminton fond it v comfy was long overdue one, my last one I had had over 10 years was an older style Rodney Powell, had it fitted when I was like 13/14 was v comfy and I haven't changed shape, but due an upgrade and hoping to event more this year and wasn't as keen on their newer style but like the Racesafe, have only sat in te saddle in it so far, so needs testing when I next go xc :)

For me the KAN is worth it for the comfort (I could wear mine all day and have frequently been seen mucking out in it) which means you will be more likely to wear it and hence SAFER! Plus it is the toughest I've felt and I think you would have a fighting chance even if a horse landed/trod on your ribcage, which I'm not sure you could say for many others.

Another vote for the Kan. They are extremely comfortable, adjustable and don't need to be replaced after a fall due to the technology used.

I am adoring my Kan - first BP I've had, I love the fit of it, when I first put it on if felt like it would help protect me. There's some pics of me wearing it in PG, if you want to see it on a real person and not a model!

thanks all :)

ive currently got an airowear one that goes on with velcro - id definately want a zip up one!!>..

spot the risk.... i was on the site earlier and was confused about sizings.... are they generous with the "dress size" option??? im a size 10/12,.,, so not sure which option is best lol! :)

its between a kan and a racesafe!........... hmmmmmmmmm

Kan all the way! Although they are both level 3, the Kan will not need routine replacement in 3-5 years as the foam does not degrade. I recently had the opportunity to have a good look at a RS and was amazed that anyone would feel it offered them adequate protection! To my mind and eye, it just seemed too soft and flimsy. As for sizing - ring Wendy at Kan. She offers the best customer service ever, and will, if necessary send you two BPs to ensure the best fit. Even better, she is in the UK on and off for most of the eventing season, and will happily tell you where she is headed, and fit you personally. If you are en route/between events, she will do personal visits.

Sister has a Kan and finds it a good fit and comfortable, bought it at Brmham, so had it fitted by the people on the stand, well worth finding out where they will be this season :)

I would save your money and buy a KAN. They were developed for women and are the best, in my opinion, for a woman's shape.
My daughter competes in hers and forgets to take it off at the end. It feels heavy when you carry it but light when you put it on.
They come in different lengths, widths and boob size!

If you PM me I'll give you the contact details of someone who's been involved from the start with the developer and she'll make sure you get the best advice. (Not meant to sound like an advert - she just knows more about it than me!).

Put your safety first - if you're broken you can't ride!!!

I vote Kan!
All the way - All the reasons everyone has already brought up.

-comfy
- feels invisible for me once on
- doesnt make me hot or sweaty
- Doesnt need replacement after everyfall
- Customer service, where do I start, The BEST i have ever experienced, a personally written letter, emails to check i was happy afterwards.

Check there site - they have customer reviews.

Racesafe recommended from a die hard "I'm only wearing one if I have to".....got thrown off and broke my back (wasn't wearing one) to " I'd rather wear it than not" Very comfy, don't even realise I've got it on most of the time.

I've just bought a Kanteq. Really pleased with it.

Rode in it yesterday schooling and out hacking and was well pleased that it didn't chafe and bruise me like my current model. :)

Another vote for the Kan from me, an outstanding body protector. Give Wendy a call, she also has fitters in the UK. She is here in mainland UK for a little while yet and may well be near you. She is very helpful. good luck
