Hi
For a beach ride on holiday, with novices and experienced riders, organised by a riding stable, would you wear a body protector or not? There isn't much room in the car, bearing in mind. I'm used to wearing one all the time when riding.
What do you think?
Thanks and sorry for being a bit stupid, I've got my head in the clouds and can't think properly :)

If you wear one all the time, then yes, I would take it. I wore one for my first beach ride as I needed that extra little bit of confidence it gives me.

We take our body protectors on holiday if we are going to ride, including to USA. We too went on a beach ride organised by a stable. Much of the approach ride was along a tarmac road including trot, and with traffic. Fine but if I am going to come off on the road, I prefer to be wearing my bp. When the horses got to the beach they knew it was canter time and tho you may know your own riding, you cant be sure that others on the group ride will be as capable. There's a herd element as they charge together.

Yes wear it. I had a friend who was a very capable rider, bsja infact, took her horse on beach ride, they had done it lots of times, a beach ball rolled out of nowhere across the water, horse spooked and she broke her back in 2 places as a result. Wet sand is just as hard as ice.
