Just to let people know if your are not aware of it already. There is a new 2009 standard body protector coming to the market and all the 2000 one will be replaced by this new standard within the next 12-18 months. So if you are looking for a new one just hold on for a while. There are some of the new ones on the market now, but most are still in the design stage.

All body protectors for competitions will have to be of the 2009 standard, but as i say they are fazing them in over the next 18 months. For general riding the old 2000 are more than fine for that. Just didn't want somebody to buy a new one now (if they can hang on for a while) when they are bringing in new standards.

ive looked into this as looking to buy a BP and have been told that the new date - 2009 - is different due to the body protectors having extra design features.

the 2000 is fine for competition use and you dont have to purchase a new one.

apparently the marketing teams are riding on the fact that its a new standard which it isnt - its the same standard (purple) but just has extra features thats why its purple 2009 not purple 2000 but at the end of the day they are both purple standard just different dates

Having been so very pleased to be wearing one a couple of days ago, don't not get one now!

Oh don’t worry I have one (an airowear), but do want a new one so will just wait a bit longer. Would never go XC-ing without it (infact on my XC Clinic you have to wear one or you can’t ride)!

I think I'd have broken my ribs if I hadn't been wearing one the other day, and I was only on a hack and we were walking

I work for a tack shop so know whats new and whats not and whats changing and i know for a fact that we have been told it IS changing and the new 2009 are starting to enter the market already, but the old 2000 will still be able to be used for the next 12-18 months while the new ones are being fazed in, at which point you will be no longer able to compete in the 2000 any more.

i read recently that someof the extra design features between 200 and 2009 are literally the positioning of the straps..might be wrong tho.
