I've had my body protector for years, not sure how long but it must be 10 years now. It's a racesafe and I haven't used it much, it was mainly used for occasional jumping, fast work and as a confidence giver during wobbles.

Now I've moved yards I'm hacking new routes and am wearing it every time, just in case. It still looks in excellent condition but should it be changed? How do you tell if they need replacing?

If I need a new one, what recommendations do you have for comfy ones?

I took a massive interest in safety as I started riding so old. (61)
It is usually recommended to replace them every 4 years as the foam hardens.
But you need to check your size and shape as well.

I’m in the process of replacing mine! (Also 10 years old).
Ordered a new racesafe provent 3.0 and it is SO much comfier than my current old racesafe! Annoyingly I didn’t get the right length so have had to exchange it but I’m super keen for the new one to come (again!)

Oh that's interesting to hear! I don't mind my current one, I find it fairly comfy. I tried on a couple in Go Outdoors (just out of interest, I'm going to meke sure it's properly fitted) and they felt awful, so restrictive.

Need to try and find a stockist now.

It’s lighter and more breathable, but I think it’s mostly because of the elasticated sides? It fits snug but I could still nervously hyperventilate in it if needed without feeling too restricted ?
