Bodycage body protectors

I have been looking at the Body cage body protectors and there is a great clip of a lady surviving a rotational fall on their website... <font color="blue"> </font>

However after reading in H&amp;H about having to declare if you are wearing a body cage it got me thinking about what were to happen should the paramedics need to get to your heart in an emergency?

Are they easy and quick to get off?

Does anyone have any experience with them and what are your views?

I read somewhere that you have a key to get them off - so at big events you have to declare them and fence judges have a key (or paramedics etc) to un do them. Suppose it depends how you land if you fall, where is the key hole etc.
 
I dont like the sound of them TBH. Great idea but very worrying that you need to have a key to get them off! So in an emergency, you have to wait about in pain while someone finds the key off the organisers (or whoever you gave it to)?! Also, I think they look extremely bulky which I think would probably cause me to fall off if I couldnt move freely!!
 
I seem to remember that there's a key actually located in the body protecter. I could be wrong though!

If you were that concerned, all you would need to do is tape one on your BP, or carry one with your medical armband.

I evented in one...the metal is magnesium and is designed in a way so that it shatters and takes the force of the horse on you away from your body-its like a buffer. it cant break and go into u, so dont worry about that bcos it is designed to break in a special way and is also a super lightweight metal. it is really easy to undo as there is a big patch on it with a first aid cross on it if anyone needs the key to take it off. personally i wouldnt go XC without one, but that is my own, personal opinion now. anyone can have a fall and i wanted to try and give myself the best possible protection for going XC-especially as there have been so many tragic accidents (again my personal opinion).
i did bramham 3* and advanced tracks in it and it was brilliant. it took me about one schooling session to get used to it. once u get used to it it is fine...it is not heavy at all as the straps are designed to take the weight from u...it doesnt touch u...i guess the best way to think of it would be like a car crash zone....
not sure if any of that helps...but i would 100% recommend it to anyone (again my own opinion from having competed in one-maybe others would disagree i dont know, but i love mine)
 
i put one on when i went to ridemore and my god was it heavy, maybe that was differrent the one i tried was the only body protector that will garuantee you will survive if the horse rolls on you, so heavy, and stiff.
