I would like to buy a bodyprotector, but the one I tried fits like I am in a water-butt or some kind of a cylinder. Anyone know which ones fit a woman? (I read elliep25's question and her answers, but a lot might have changed since than.)

Kanteq body protectors are especially designed for women and extremely good (though quite pricey).

I have a racesafe and because of the way they lace up at the sides they do tend to fit really well to most shapes, you can also get them custom made. I personally prefer the racesafes but either of these bps are excellent.

The racesafe ones are excellent!

I never wore my body protector as I felt so restricted then I got a racesafe and they are so flexible and mould to fit you!

I would seriously recommend one of these as I will never wear a normal one again :)

the Kans are wonderful, superior protection and exceptionally comfortable, supportive (shaped into the back, really good).
i happen to know that a top rider wearing a Kan had a fall with a youngster this week, it was lying with its bum across her chest for quite a while till they could get it off, and she thought she'd end up with fractured ribs and/or collarbone. in fact, thanks to the Kan, she was unhurt. :) :) :)

If you can afford it the Kan Teq are really really good. And one of the advantages is that the smart foam they use means they don't have to be replaced as often as other makes if you fall off in them :)

If you mention HHO/Kerrilli/me when you order you should get a discount (we don't get anything, she just appreciates the good recommendations).

The other one for ladies is the Airowear Outlyne, which is cheaper. Otherwise, go for one which adjusts at the sides, not a zip fronted one, as these tend to press on the bust and make it impossible to breathe :(

Woooooh! I am also looking for a BP but as fantastic as Kanteq ones look I really don't think I could afford it!
I think I'm going to carry on using my friends JW one - which incidentally, is very nicely fitted, zipped at the front and adjustable with the usual velcro straps at each side and each shoulder - I hate wearing them but this one doesn't impede me much at all and I forgot I was wearing it! One down side to it though is I do tend to get stuck dismounting - I must remember to take it off before I jump down!!!

thanks a lot!!! You are all very fast to reply. I'll be finding out which ones of your BP's are sold in The Netherlands and also call the "import-from-england-shop" in the following days. It would be great to get into a better one. Again: thanks a lot!!!

Getting off Rakker is hard enough, I'm not taking that thing off before Rakker is back in her stable, even if this BP doesn't feel good. IF I try a JW I'll remember to check how to dismount!

Thanks, I'll add racesafe to my list. The lady who asked about what bodyprotector to buy on this forum 2 years ago was also advised a racesafe. But I'll have to accept that this coutry of mine is years behind in bodyprotectors and I might not be able to find the exact make I'm looking for. So all Makes/names are welcome.

I recently bought the new Rodney Powell BP with he extra spinal support. Its so flexible and is shaped for women (although I'm not very big in that area - lol- so don't have much of a problem) Its very comfy. i forgot I had it on after jump schooling. Tried the Outlyne too butI prefered this.

Have you tried one of the uk mail order companies like Rideaway or Derby House. They would probably post to you?

I too have a KanTeq. Yes, it was expensive but so much more comfortable than any other I've ever worn. Although tall, I have a short back and this was by far the best fitting. I had it fitted by the designer at Bramham 3 years ago. I say 'hello' to her if I see her at other events but it's no good you mentioning my name, I doubt if it would get you any discount! :D:D:D

Hah yeah make sure you check how to get off without getting stuck on the saddle!! I'm STILL learning!! :p
I'll look at Racesafe too :) pretty colours sound good to me!! When I was a kid and started riding there was only one type of BP the stiff blue things that made you look like an obese person :(
And I DO have a problem finding things to fit my chest :( usually a size 12, but sometimes have to get size 14 and even  16 (And I'm not overweight!) occasionally in some places just to accommodate there.
Do Racesafe fit properly like that too? I may have to go somewhere to try on :)

Would like to try Kanteq, but is not sold by the lady I'll see later in August. She's got racesafe and airowear for me to try on. Ill have to visit a threedayevent, an hour drive from here to see her. Looking forward to it!

hello,
I tried a racesafe and an airowear outlyne. last one fitted best. If there had been a Rodny Powel, i would have tried it, but there wasn't. I took the airowear home and tried it again, no problems getting on or off a pony. Tried on both a dressage and a natural horsemanship saddle, both were fine. I ordered one in a colour. The racesafe looked good but was too wide just above the waist. Although the airowear outlyne has a front zip it closed well around me leaving space where it is (a little) needed in front and for breathing.
THANKS A LOT FOR HELPING ME OUT EVERYONE! In five weeks time I'll be using my own bodyprotector!
thanks.
