My poor boy suffers horrible sweet itch. He gets covered from head to toe. I have tried everything from sprays, acupuncture, injections, snuggy hoods and finally the boett. Which is working a treat. He hasn't a patch on him other than where his mane and tail won't grow back after years of rubbing. Only thing is his boett is rubbing him. All his shoulders are scabby and sore! After ringing the people at the sweet itch center they made sure it was a correct fit, which it was. Told me to sow fleece to the insides. Which hasn't worked. And other than that they've never has a case like it b4. He's extremely sensitive skinned which doesn't help! I really am out of ideas now!

Bossy's bibs are amazing.

I haven't found a rug yet that doesn't rub my girl's shoulders so she never wears a rug without a Bossy's bib. Her shoulders look great now, you'd never know they'd been rubbed.

He has one of thoose too! After destroying all his other anti rub vests whilst itching I got him a bossy bib and eventually it starter healing but With the warmer weather and all his attire on he was dripping in sweat under it, but only under the Bib. Iv had to take it off and the damn things rubbed again!

I see your problem, they do tend to keep the heat in a bit. I'm up north so warm weather isn't much of a problem :-{ .

It usually isn't here but we seem to of had some sun lately and his sholders are so sore their weepy! He can't even be inside without it on though! And when he sweats it attracts more flies! It's a good job I love him!

Could you get some material like the anti rub bibs and sew it directly on to your rug (instead of fleece) to make it smooth on the shoulders...?

Mine rubs slightly but never enough to rub all the hair away fortunately....

Yee might have to give that a go. The bit in between his legs and the leg straps rub him too but not as bad! Thanks! X

Don't think that will work, the material used is usually a lycra which is stretchy and it is that is the very property it needs to slide the rug over the bib to stop it rubbing. Not having any tension on it to make it smooth will mean the material you sew inside will pucker up and that in itself will rub the horse more.

Have you got a roller?
I would try to use that under the boett if you can arrange it so that there's no sharp edges points etc on the roller to make a hole in the Boett if he decides to roll.
The idea is to keep the rug up off the horse where it rubs, you MAY be lucky and be able to use a roller for that, like a tent pole to keep the tent up.
I made up a contraption for an elderly TB with very sensitive skin who's turn out rug was rubbing the withers raw,it involved me using the metal work off of a anti cast roller stitched and rivetted onto an old saddle panel, discarding the top half with the tree in but not before I had taken the old girth straps off of the top half of the saddle and stitched them onto the sweat flap of the "contraption" I had invented allowing me to girth up the panel off the saddle directly onto the horse and hold it in place. It worked, the rug was held up enough off the horse to stop it rubbing but not enough to allow the weather in.They's tried all the bibs, wither pads etc to no avail, this thing seemed to work.
Oz :)

I cant help with the rubbing but what i did for my pony when he was itchy and inside was fix a desk fan high on the wall, this keeps the air moving inside and stops midges also. Our pony used to stand facing the fan and was so relaxed because he was not bothered by flies.
I used to bathe him a lot, he went out after dark and was brought in really early before the midges got at him.

Thank u for all your replies. Not sure a roller would work as i don't think it would fit comfortably under his boett. And stuff like that rubs him! Even his girth rubs him! No matter what I do to it. Might have to look into the anti rub vest material but not a lycra one. a material like a bossy Bib. X

When you say it fits do you mean it is a snug fit or a bit on the big side? I only ask because our sweetitchy chap wears one of these and it is definitely on the larger side of a good fit and never rubs at all. I just wonder that if you tried the next sizing up if it would be better for him. It's just a wonderment really.

it is quite snug. i was going to buy him a new one next summer. may see about a larger one. i just ordered the size they recomended me b4 x

Thank u. Iv seen these b4 but iv had copies of the boett b4 and he just rips them. He really is a nightmare Lol x

That's a pity Amber however I doubt that he'd rip one of these anymore than a genuine Boett. I have 3 of them for my chap and they are excellent.
