I think my boy has sweet itch, he is going to be blood tested this week to find out exactly what is causing his itching but this morning he's rubbed all his face so Im thinking it must be sweet itch??
If it is I will have to get him a decent fly rug. Ive just bought a Premier Equine one but it doesnt cover his belly. Is there any 'fakes' out there that are on a par with the Boett? Just that I will probably have to buy 2 as he has to be stabled at night and I wouldnt like to turn him out in one covered in poo as it will really attract the flies. Ive looked at the Pagony which seems great but I dont think the biggest one will fit him.
Anyone got one they'd like to sell?
 
I would personally use either the Rambo sweetitch rug or the snuggy hood one over the Boett - just personal preference having used all 3 before.

Best mate swears by the rambo one for her work ponies
 
I've got a masta one which has the belly bit and it does the trick for my horse and isn't too pricy, hasn't ripped yet either... (touches wood quickly

) I like it because the neck and body section are integrated (i.e. all in one). The fly rugs which have seperate neck covers don't work for my mare as they ride up and then the itchiest place at the bottom of her neck is left exposed.

My horse doesn't get severe sweet itch though, I can control it easily with some stop itch and the rug.
 
We sell the pagony - would be surprised if the biggest did not fit as will fit a 7ft 3" horse

We also sell another make which has a larger belly section.

Mine suffers really badly on the belly and will perform horsey yoga to rub his on the ground. He wears either the pagony or our ultimate sweet itch rug 24/7 (depends which one is in the wash!)

I also use another fly rug over the top of these as it makes them last twice as long and using a white rug keeps him cooler.

Ive just found the ultimate sweet itch rug via google but was put off a bit when it said, may stretch to 6' 9. When I looked on the Solva Icelandics website, the Pagony said the largest was 6' 3 to 6' 6, so I will go and have another look at Cotswold now.

To be fair most sweet itch rugs stretch - Dinks (my horse in all the pics!) is a true 6ft 6" measured. However I often buy him 6ft 9" rugs to allow for full coverage.

He is wearing the large ultimate or the 195cm pagony - so there are two larger sizes left the in pagony if that helps!
 
We bought a Boett for Friday- Rob's very allergic and namby 4yo. Absolutely FAB, worked wonders this summer but did have to put a bossybib on her- really reccomend.
 
The Pagony is excellent for an economy sweet itch rug (I payed £54 including postage for it brand new from an online shop).

Fotr sweet itch, you really do need a proper sweet itch rug, not an ordinary fly rug (like the masta someone suggested, it will NOT help a true sweet itch sufferer in the least) - the midges will bite straight through mesh.
 
I do agree with SF- Masta/rambo etc are fab for my lot to keep out the flies and the sun rays, but if you have the funds and your horse is a proper sufferer you need the real Mcoy, and it is a lot of money but those Boetts do work.
