Bog spavin?

Hi everyone i'm new....

My horse (15.3hh TB x mare 13yrs) has always had a very slight swelling on the inside of her nearside hock. It has never bothered her and she is 100% sound on flexions and on a circle.

Over the last couple of days the swelling has increased slightly (its a soft fluid swelling). She is not doing any harder work than normal although she did sj on sunday but the ground was reasonable.

Does this sound like a bog spavin to you? Also what is the recommended best treatment? She has little scuffs on both hocks (i think from where she lies down) could this add to the problem.

She is still sound and events at intro/PN standard happily.

I'd be grateful for any advice. Thanks

Bog spavin is a distension of the joint capsule of the hock and in the majority of cases has no clinical significance and reqires no treatment. It may well resolve itself. Seek further advise if it is accompanied by lameness.
