Im not sure how DMSO gel would work, do ask your vet?? My horse got one about a year ago, I had it drained and had pressure hock bandage on but still there slightly. It goes up and down occasionally but he has never been unsound on it. Hes not a show horse so not a major problem to me. Havent any other ideas, good luck tho!!
They are a bit like windgalls and so do tend to stay no matter what. The general trend is to leave them be if they are not causing trouble (which they normally don't). Personally I wouldn't put DMSO anywhere near - but that's an arguement that's been done to death. There are quite a few past posts on Bog Spavin and DMSO if you want to search them out. What does your vet suggest? Are they causing problems?
Thanks for you replies. They are not causing a physical problem but they are unsightly and we are being dropped down the line in the show ring if the judge is a stickler for hocks and it's not fair as she is an amazing little horse. I am waiting to hear from the vet again but I did try pressage boots which they recommended. Any other help please get in touch.
