Can anyone give me any suggestions for stopping my 2yo from bolting her feed? She already has chaff in it, is there anything else I can give her to make her slow down? She's eating far too fast and making herself feel ill.
Thanks

Put a brick or some large stones in the bucket / manager so she has to pick around. I found this worked quite well for one of mine that bolted its food.

I second Sarah_Jane try some large smooth pebbles, obviously nothing small enough to swallow.

You could also try spreading her feed over the floor so she has to search around for it. I sometimes put my boys feed on top of and scattered over his hay (its soaked on the floor) so he has to search around for it. Keeps him interested, slows him down and makes him think!

My two year old does exactly the same thing, she has had choke three times now, the second time was a vet visit and a £300 vet bill

and this was eating from the floor. I now soak her nuts and put a large stone in her bowl, fingers crossed seems to have done the trick.

Water he feed down lots, so she more or less drinks it and put large stones in it, or a mineral lick I had a horrendous year with mine at 2, which ended with him being scoped, as they thought there was something seriously wrong with him, but no, he was just a pig. He's grown out it now, thank god
