Bon Balou

Fab type stallion and I have seen some crackers by him! I have a very similarly bred filly to him who I am looking forward to seeing mature!

Thanks for your reply its such a big decision, he's very alike his dad colour and markings and a look at me factor.

anybody else have veiws on the Bon Balou stallion.

Hi and welcome!

Well I liked him well enough as a 3 year old to take the gamble to use him on my gorgeous Irish mare (Rich Rebel x Clover Hill x Legaun Prince) - She was Grade C SJ at 6 years old when she had to retire due to injury and can actually jump the moon.

I loved his jump and his paces and also his attitude, so even though he was unproven and just broken, I thought he was worth a go. He was in Denmark all of last season, but I understand he is now back in Germany for the Jumping season, so hopefully there should be more info on how he is doing, but he certainly showed A LOT of promise.

I only know of 3 other foals (other than mine!) born to him in the UK and one of them sadly died shortly after birth. So by process of elimination ;) I know which one you are thinking of buying and if the price was right, I would personally go for it - unless of course you want to buy mine instead!!! ;)

Which brings me neatly to my Bon Balou baby :D Max:

Any more laid back and he would be horizontal (and he doesn't get that off Mum, I can tell you!) - He learns quick, doesn't get phazed by anything, but when he starts moving, there is SO MUCH energy, spring and elevation in each of his strides, I believe he just saves it all when he is being handled so he can wow everyone when he moves! - probably got that from Bon Balou!

What can I say, I think Max is an absolute craker and I am very happy I chose to use Bon Balou, because semen availability in this country is likely to be restricted for some time. Of course, taking on offspring from a very young stallion is always a bit of a gamble, but I am personally convinced he is worth that gamble.

Oh, and yes, obligatory pics :D:
