long story, i have a 4yo home bred mare, who has had a virus since december, really wiped her out, lost loads of weight, and had raised liver enzymes but no other symptoms, eaten well, no runny poos, no cough or mucus. my 9yo also had the virus very mild and liver was fine and she is now over it
Anyway, 3 weeks ago my 4yo had a seizure in her stable, since then she has had a CT scan which was all clear and a spinal tap which showed inflammation. They thought it was Lyme disease but came back negative. Today they have done blood tests again and for the 4th time in a row the red blood cells and platelets have decreased, only a little bit each time (3%) this time. She is really bright in her self still underweight but not lost any more weight. They are now baffled and are talking about a bone marrow biopsy. Just wondered if anyone has had this done or has any ideas whats wrong, obviously i know it could be bad news, as something is making her anaemic, but i keep hoping that because they both had a virus there is not an underlying problem lurking. thanks for reading
