Bonfire night will soon be upon us and I am wondering if horsie will be safer in his stable or out in paddock (individual TO). No houses for about 1/2 mile but obviously he will still be able to see and hear the firworks in the sky. He's currently out 24/7 but we usually bring in around end of Oct anyway. What do other people think is safest??
Thanks.

I think we'll be leaving ours out (depends on weather, but if its mild they'll be staying out as long as possible!). I think I prefer out as long as they're not overly silly and giddy as then they can see whats going on a bit more

Depends on the horse and the paddock. I get mine in as they can wind themselves up galloping around and possibly go through the electric tape.

This is a tricky one. The year I left my two fairly chilled horses out I could not believe how many spent fireworks I found in the field the following day & we live in a small village! Thank goodness they hadn't been hit by one.

Since then I've brought them in, but a livery we had used to get very het up & I was worried he'd barge the door down. He also used to make the others get worked up as we have grills between stables.

mine will be out - without rugs because i get paranoid fireworks will catch fire to rugs

every obstacle gets removed from the field so there is less chance of collisions if horse happens to take flight.
They have got stables to go in if they want to (in the field) but usually they just stand outside

My boy will be in with BIG banks and bandages he cant stay out yard rules or he would ( id rather him be scared and running out in the field than trying to do it in his stable) He might get sedated if the display is as near as last year

If at all possible I would leave a horse in it's usual routine. Where I am now we're not near to many houses so it's not a problem; we used to be next to a college which had a huge bonfire party every year. At first we used to stay with the horses but they weren't that bothered, so we just used to go & check on them after the display had finished.
I think that if a horse is fine with thunder & lightening, they'll probably be fine with fireworks, from a horse's point of view I don't think there's much difference.

Mine will be in but only because we are on winter routine,

TBH, he is used to bangs and stuff, we have shooting and the hunt around here.

Mine are in anyway. Everyone has different ideas in or out with fireworks. Ive seen horses bolt in terror with fireworks round the field - I was house sitting at the time - all I could do was watch and hope they didnt go through the fence. Luckily they didnt but it was not nice seeing it.
