bonfire night????

we leave ours out...as i feel they are safer in the fields, as they are further away from any houses

that said...pillock whose house was right next 2 foals field last year, let off fireworks, didnt tell us

next day we found foaly impaled on post and wrapped in barbed wire (this in a field with stone walls...)

he was in a bit of a mess but pulled through

I always leave mine out - my old mare is happier out than in but none of them seem to mind fireworks too much. However, we have a new pony this year and I don't know how she reacts to them so I will be worrying more than normal

Hmm... i always worry about kids throwing them at the horses. I dont think thats a problem but im not sure how they would react to them going off, whether they would charge around the field or not. Would hate for them to get stuck in the fence.glad foaley was ok.

Mine are out, they never seem to bother with them. We make sure the local pub, which is only 2 fields away don't have them, but they haven't for the past 3 years.
At work all are out except the old boys who are in away, and we will bring the foals in as its their first one and they don't have their mums to 'save' them.

Ours are in, our village bonfire and firework display is literally a 2 minute walk over the hill. They don't really care, especially the ones who have been there for years. One horse even watches the fireworks! I stayed with Maiden last year as it was her first year at the yard, 5 minutes into the display she wasn't bothered at all. I can guarantee ours are safer inside though, as our fields are even closer to the bonfire!

The horses on our yard are always in at night by Bonfire night. I must say its been much better since they changed the law, at least its only for a few days instead of for a few weeks.

I leave them out, I think they can run away from the noise rather than being trapped in a stable and panicking. But the fields are miles away from any where, can't imagine people would have fireworks out there.

Mine live out anywy but have always been with the thinking they should be out, at least if they freak they can run without hurting themselves. But on the other hand i would say it depends on the horse, if they are happier in leave them in. Makes me feel better that 3 yrs ago at my last yard, i rang to see how they were, it was only 1/2 mile the road from my house and the fire works were shacking the house at one point they were that loud, but YO said her 3 were going crazy and my boy was asleep in the corner of the field! Still worries me though, i have 3 now and the aren't supervised.

I'm worried sick about my two, the new people in the house that backs onto my field have told my OH that they are having a bonfire and fireworks

My mare is very highly strung but I think will be worse in the stable than out so it looks as though we are going to have to spend the night with the horses to make sure things don't get too out of hand.

Going round the field this afternoon and tomorrow double checking for rabbit holes as they have been a menace this year!

We are just at the edge of town and the horses are ok (just a bit jumpy) with the fireworks that they can hear and see, but they are about 1/2 mile away, I'm dreading what tomorrow is going to be like with the going off next door
