Today we took the next step in our bareback game. After a rather erm...bright.. hack out, I thought it would be an awesome plan to hop on in the arena and see if the little black pony fancied a pop over a little fence. It was only after the first two pops that I realised that I have only ever walked him when he has just the rope around his neck, we have never trotted or cantered as I was pretty sure i'd fall off. So here we were trotting, cantering, doing figures of 8s and popping a tiny jump and halting after, all with just a leadrope around his neck. What a superstar!
Only small issue came after the below piccies where he decided an extra stride was for losers and that as the jump was so ickle he could make it. He then blamed me for the stretch he had to put in, put his head between his knees and began a bunny hop that I was pretty sure would lead to full on rodeo. But I sat up, asked him to halt, and he reduced the bouncing to a halt, at which point I decided discretion was the better part of valour, jumped off, gave a pat and called it a day! (apologies, photos are stills from a video that refused to load)
