My normally sane pony who just about breaks into a gentle trot across the field has gone utterly loopy in the wind. He has just spent half an hour charging and broncing round the field with my dog. I gave up poo picking when he tried to jump the wheel barrow ! Anyone else's gone doolally this morning ??

Mine (along with the rest of the herd) went bonkers last night, when some major gusts started blowing. Was fun to watch. :)

Mines always bonkers but in the rain... quite sane??? Odd:confused:

A big part of the reason they tend to go doolally in the wind is because it carries sounds and smells they would normally miss, and from sources they can't easily place. This puts them on high alert for danger and so can confuse them (and probably gets a little irritating!).

Rain, fortunately, just carries sogginess plus self-pity and grumpiness if you're unlucky ;)

My mare is another who gets silly in the wind, although she's better if I'm riding her. This morning, she did 5 laps round the field at a gallop, coupled with bucks and rears because there was a 'monster coming over the hill'. Sometimes she will be a pain to bring in, although she was actually ok today. We have to come past a couple of big ash trees which are depositing their leaves everywhere, so I was pretty pleased that she was a good girl! Mind you, when those savage easterlies arrive, it might be a different story!! Hard hat on :-)

Tiny Fuzzy had 'wind-up-bum' moments this morning :biggrin3:
Bombing about in the dark, she tried to skittle me a couple of times & managed to up end her back feet at the moon too!
Nutty as they come she was, tho FLF was her usual sedate self..............
