Turbo cob was feeling a little flat earlier this week and I struggle to get powder balancer into small summer meals so got a bag of Baileys performance balancer. Low sugar / starch / energy apparently.

Its the only thing I've changed this week and he's out with my pssm mare so he's not stuffing himself with spring grass. Definitely no longer flat - he's bouncing off all 4 walls!

He's not even on the full amount.

When i saw the thread title, I thought you'd been drinking! 🤣

Lot of protein - charlie evented on it but it sent bon wild, he has a bit for about a week and I spent 40 mins at a time cantering laps 🤣 he wasn't fit either, just daft. It's got soya and Alfa in but he's fine on both those. It definitely made him sparkle though 🤣

I needed one after our ride today! There was leaping - all 4 legs off the ground leaping!! I'm too old for that....

Wee bit more sparkle than I was expecting or needed 😁

I can’t feed Millie anything Baileys. Even their lo cal balancer sends her into a spooky idiot, as do their fibre cubes.
I have no idea what’s in it that causes her reaction. She’s fine on spillers equivalent.

Yes! I got a sample of the performance balancer. One small feed and he was wired to the moon! Threw the rest in the bin.

The performance balancer has always sent mine bonkers, it’s what I put them on when I need a bit of extra ‘sparkle’ for competing 😁 I did feed the Lite version with no issues.

Topspec Lite sent my current sharp horse loopy, switched to Spillers and she’s much better!

Mine was bonkers on Bailey's lo cal balancer.
Now I'm wondering how much of his behaviour last year was down to the balancer! He's never had the full amount but I didn't make the connection between the Kevins and feed.

Sane this morning but whether that was due to a 2 hour hilly fast hack in the heat yesterday or removal of Bailey's Bonkers Balancer I don't know.

We were on Spillers until I couldn't get it so I think we'll need to go back ....

I feed my competition mare Spillers Original balancer and their Stamina cubes and she is fine. Funny how some makes send them daft.

do you need to soak the stamina cubes?

I'm trying to find something that doesn't need to be a mash as apparently we don't like a mash any more.....
No I dont soak them, she has it with Dengie Meadow Grass Chaff and the balancer. Her teeth are fine, she is only 14 years old. You could soak them if you wanted to for an older horse or one with tooth problems but mine is ok.

The more I read these the more I wish I could remember what balancer he was on when I was resoundingly bucked off twice in a week - proper rodeos each time too 🙄 It was summer so would definitely have moved to a pellet....

Live & learn. Expensively given I had to replace a 4 day old crash hat.

Could it have been TopSpec a lot of horses react to that?

Never used it - would either have been Spillers or Baileys. I switched to Baileys when Spillers wasn't in stock but the pony is quite hot anyway so I didn't make any connection between feed and getting bucked off
