Morning guys....

Had a long awaited lesson last night - had hoped to jump too, however we had other issues to deal with which took up all the time but in the end are essential building blocks!!!

Anyway - it's been a while since our last lesson so trainer just wanted to see where we were at.... Made some changes to my walk, and we started really over reaching and mare was going very nicely - nothing to change in my trot

, however transition walk -> trot need to work on as mare skips into it

... Then the canter - mare v tight in the back so did rising canter on her 'good' rein to loosen her up, then proper transitions, and got a really good canter... Trainer then wanted me to collect and extend - initially the plan was to do working canter to collected, but as mare breaks on collection at the mo

, we did working to medium and back again and she did it!!!

I said 'surely I just went faster in medium, but apparently we actually showed a change!!!' how cool is that!

Onto bad rein which is the one I posted a week or so ago about having issues - and turns out, although mare is weak, she's also taking the p*ss.... She's learnt that if she breaks to trot, she's trained me to trot too

.... So, spent the time on that rein going collected and extended, and every time she broke down, I really had to work my belly off so she couldn't lean on me, and I wasn't to start trotting with her, but keep myself cantering!!! She did get it in the end, but we have a bit to work on still....!

So - happy Bandit and v pleased with the Bon Monster and no more taking the p*ss for her!

LOL youve got the measure of her!!
Excellent stuff, like you say its all building blocks for the future which will make her a lot easier to ride.
Well done hunny, you will start reaping the rewards in no time.

Wow, good progress there. My boy breaks into trot a lot on one rein and we do leg yield down the 3/4 then into canter as soon as we hit the track then back which gives us a better canter and stops him leaning on me from the word go.

Well, it took trainer on the ground to tell me that she was taking me for a ride - with all the 'issues' we've had, I was on the paranoid side that she was trying to tell me something - but evidently she's just being a cheeky madam!!!!

Once we've got out canter sorted, I am very hopeful about her ability - so is trainer!!!

I'm actually rather nervous of the XC section more than the others, think it's because I've done it the least. hopefully going again this week and want to fly some more fences - then i'll feel better.

yes - i was in bed at 11pm - totally knackered out from riding!
