What's the going rate for a book keeper doing your books/income tax/VAT etc?

I need a new job, just considering my options!!

Thanks

Depends on area and industry really.. I have seen Companies pay as little as £20,000 up to £50,000. Are you a Qualified Accountant? As there are plenty more avenues if you are.

I'm in the South East. Was looking to do it freelance probably. I'm not an Accountant no, nor even a basic book keeper at the mo, was going to do some training.

I'm soon to be made redundant you see :( Trying to work out what my next move should be

I am a Freelance Bookkeeper (home based) and I cover Hampshire / Berkshire and I charge from £20.00 - £25.00 per hour (plus mileage) depending on location and complexity of business. I do offer a free initial consultation. There is a high demand for Freelance Bookkeepers at the moment so if you have Accountancy experience now is a good time to put those skills into practice :-)

Blimey, I must be undercharging...I charge £8 per hour. Most of my clients are self-employed and would never pay over £10 per hour; there is just not that sort of money in this area. No wonder I'm busy...but it beats working for anyone else any day, and my clients are all lovely.
