Hi all,

All being well and following a supervisory/trial period in July; I am about to start sharing for the first time at the beginning of August. Already I am struggling to think of things to do post-warm up - it seems so simple when you are in lessons and it is someone else's responsibility!

I am looking for good books with plenty of schooling and pole work exercises if anyone can advise please? Exercises to work on improving balance would be extra appreciated as my share horse struggles with canter on the right rein. She also falls out slightly on the right and in on the left rein - I understand this requires lots of work in walk/trot first but I need ideas.

Thank you :)

101 Jumping Exercises for horse and rider, and actually 101 dressage exercises for horse and rider has some really great polework ideas too

Thank you; we won't be doing any jumping for a little while and certainly won't be jumping any great heights when we do. Is 101 Jumping worth getting if only using it for polework?

101 jumping exercises has a large section on polework. 101 schooling exercises is full of flatwork exercises.

101 horsemanship exercises is good, groundwork and ridden sections

Cavaletti by the Klimke's is also good :)

I was also going to suggest the 101 books. The jumping one has loads of polework in - I mainly use it for this as struggle to think of ideas!

Thanks all :). It seems the 101 series definitely gets a big thumbs up!

I think I will start with the schooling and jumping books; spoke to the owner reference a book on groundwork etc but she has said there is a Natural Horsemanship teacher at the yard who will be happy to give advice here and there FOC.
