Hiya, was just wondering if any of you have been to boomerang XC schooling near Wiltshire. I want to take my daughter for her first xc session and somebody recommended this place. I not worried about spooky jumps just want little ones, are there a good range of minis there.
Thankyou

Not been to Boomerang ourselves but heard it's good. We sometimes go to Rosehill, it's only £15 and much nearer - just off the A4130 Henley Road off the A404, so quite easy for you I would think? There's plenty of jumps of all sizes and scariness or not, from 1ft 6-2ft, or bigger if more confident!
Edited to add link to their site:

We've also been to Marlow Woodlands on a xc schooling with Mark Smith - some nice little jumps, ditches etc, apparently it's not used for events much as the access isn't particularly good, but I believe it can be booked/used, but no idea how to book that or contact details.

We also went to an event at Wheatlands Farm at Finchampstead near Wokingham, and they have a lovely mini XC - I'd think this would be ideal to start with as there aren't masses of HUGE jumps around the place to look scary! It's quite small scale, nothing massive or scary, but very inviting to a child who has not been XC before, and plenty of variety, ditches and so on. Just looked it up and they do hire it out.

Ah thankyou, yer rosehill is closer, but wasnt sure if they did nice diddy ones for my littleone, shes jumping bigger at home but its there first XC so want real small so that i can jump if nessasary!! Ive got a week and a half so might need some running practice before!!:D Think i may need waders too cos ponies not that keen on water!! But my friend is taking her quiet experienced horse for a lead for me, and she can do the bigger ones while i rest.
Dont suppose you know if rosehill has a website. Thankyou. x

would def recommend rosehill - lots of mini jumps theres even a mini mini section in the corner of the field with some really tiny jumps. Think hall place also have a good mini course but not sure if you can just do schooling round it.

The other one that's good is great Westwood - on iphon ATM but if you search on my username you will find a post with pics of my 4 year old schooling at gt Westwood, it's 5 mins off J19 of M25. They have lots of teeny ones, three telegraph poles in a pile etc. If you do find pics as an idea of scale he is 16.3.
Boomerang is fabulous but quite a way to go for First attempt maybe?

As far as I know Boomerang only has BE fences, I didnt think it had any mini fences??
Rosehill is fantastic-I have been there several times & its great, you can spend hours there just riding around the estate :) And you can jump as big (or little!) as you wish as there are loads of different height fences.
Have fun!

Yer i thought it only had big fences too, but quite a few people have said that theres little ones to, i just wonder how many. I think ill be going to Rosehill dont want to travel to boomerang and get there for her to only have 2 jumps to choose from, plus shes got a halloween party at 4 in the afternoon, so think it will be easier to go to RoseHill.

Thankyou for all the replies i will repay you with cute pictures of a very brave 6 year old doing XC on her 11.2!!!;)

I wouldn't say Boomerang was a good first time place to go, there are some smaller fences but there weren't many when we went a couple of years ago, a lot of the fences were unusual and I would guess a bit spooky for a first time. It also can get quite busy.

Rosehill and Wheatlands would be ideal :)

Hasn't Rabson Manor near Avebury got some little cross country jumps - certainly did when I did TREC there but I haven't been there for a couple of years; but it's not much farther on than Boomerang XC.

Went to Boomerang this summer with my horse (17hh) for his 1st XC school got out and i was like there are not many small fences, thank god he was a natural and was jumping all the bigger stuff or we woulld have been very bored. Its a great place to do bigger stuff but definately go to the other place!

RABSON MANOR.....is the best place for little jumps...has lots of new ones this year as well...much better than Boomerangs to start off with...then when a bit more advanced can't better Boomerangs and Russ who owns the place is great with kids..
