I'm hoping somebody can recommend a boot which is warm BUT with plenty of grip. I have a pair of muckboots which although are warm have NO grip at all as soon as it starts to get slippery. They don't have to be pretty just practical. Having had rubber wellies for years and always suffered from cold feet I don't want to go back to them. So does anyone have boots which are as warm as the muckboots but that have grip so I don't have to walk to and from the field giving the impression I'm ice skating. Thank you x

I've got some Ariat Stormbusters and have been really pleased with them in the recent rain and mud. They are much warmer than normal wellies as they have very decent soles.

For tough and warm boots, I'd recommend either Tuffa Suffolk Boots (good grip sole) - see http://www.countrybase.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=Tuffa-Suffolk-Boots or the Tuffa Country Rider Boots (with riding sole) - see http://www.countrybase.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=Tuffa-Country-Rider-Boot

Both are long leather boots with a wool lining in the foot, and really tough boots. I've had a pair of the Country Riders for 6 years and each winter I wade through muddy field gateways (clay mud that that I sink into so it's half way up the boot) and they get absolutely caked in mud. Apart from quick hose downs at the yard, they get only get one really good clean and soak with neatsfoot oil each year so I don't look after them that well but despite this they are still fully waterproof with no signs of cracking. I'd never buy anything else other than Tuffa since having these.

When we had all that snow a few years ago I had to walk through 1 foot deep snow in them to the bottom of the field several times a day to crack the ice on the water through and I only ever wore normal (not thick) socks and the wool lining was enough to keep my feet warm.

If you want rubber boots then have a look at Seeland boots. I have Tuffa boots which I love but just bought Seelands for really wet and muddy conditions. They have a warm lining so should be okay when the temperature does eventually drop and they look like they should have good grip

I have Muckboots with a really good grip. I cant remember the full name but they might be the field version. They have a really good thick sole and I bought them specifically for pushing the wheelbarrow to the dung heap through lots of mud in the winter!! They dont look pretty, in fact they could even be mens but they do the job really well.

Le chameau wellies, neoprene lined (or leather if you can afford it) with a vibram walking boot sole.

I've had mine now for over 4 years and they're going strong. They're soooo comfortable I could wear them as slippers and they keep my feet toasty warm and dry
