just about to finish cleaning my minging boots, I have cleaned the mud of with warm water and left them to dry, but was just wondering saddle soap? as they are leather (and its out as im cleaning tack)

Or boot polish as thay are ment to be for boots?

if its coloured polish and you have a pale coloured horse be careful not to give them boot polish patches if you ride in them!

i always used tack cleaner on my boots as i only had black polish at home

goot point, its back polish and she is a dark bay so I am ok there but my saddle cloth is white,

actually saying that my legs shouldnt really be touching the saddlecloth would they, or does it ??? im confused now, I dont know how far the saddle cloth comes down under the saddle flap going to have to go and check

I always boot polish my boots - when I spend the time to clean my boots I want them to shine!!

I always find that saddle soap will not shine boots adequately for my liking!! Boot polish all the way!

If you have polished your boots properly, and brush them off and rub them off with a soft cloth properly, you shouldn't end up with black anywhere else!!!

Flo_Bell i am far to lazy to put that much effort into my boots, esp as i dont compete or anything posh hence no polish! but yes i guess if you do it properly it shouldnt leave marks....

purely for boot care tack cleaner works well but if you want smart i guess polish is best.

sorry nikkinoo! i didnt mean to make you have to go check such things!!!
