This has probably already been done, but here you go....

I am thinking of selling my long leather Mountain Horse boots and getting a pair of Jod boots and Gaitors for special/shows.

I really struggle riding in long boots, but in short boots and chaps I feel alot more in control and able to put my leg on.
Now I don't a big pile of money to spend on a set, and as I only do a few shows, again, I cannot justify spending too much.

Can anyone suggest/recommend a good pair of jod boots (prefer laced) and matching gaiters that have a varity of widths? I would need a narrow width. Price you paid and where you ordered?

Thankies in advanced!!

I got my gaiters from a local tack shop. They are treadstone and cost about £40. They do them in narrow sizes are are really good quality.
My mum has treadstep gaiters and says they are really good too. Not sure how much she paid for them.

I just bought some Ariat Heritage jod boots for £50 in the sale and some Ariat Close Contact chaps to match, they were £100 not in the sale unfortunately.

I've only ever found 1 pair of long boots that fit perfectly and at £370 I couldn't afford them! Have tried on hundreds of pairs of gaiters, none of which have fit. These gaiters are a fab fit, I have really narrow short legs (twig legs!) and they fit perfect. Think mine are extra small and have a 13" calf width.

I got them from Cornwall Farmers

Ariats or the English Gaiter Company. The EGC do a huge variety in length and widths of their gaiters - so while not the cheapest they really will fit you properly.

I got mine from the local tack shop who are stockists but you will also find them at all the big horse shows - I would google them. Their gaiters are worth the money as they are really good quality, last forever and with a decent pair of boots look like long boots! I wear mine with a pair of Hunter jod boots and they look as good as an Ariat combo!!

Tredstep are great, look really smart and do a full range of widths and heights- mine are 14/19 (long and skinny) and I struggled to get others to fit....
you can get them from www.24tack.com or tack shops...

Right, think I have found them!!
I am already a massive fan of Mountain Horse and have found the following:

Xcellsior Leggings at £57
and it suggest either the Windsor or Stirling Jod boots for £100

You'll have to scroll down but I prefer the Windsor Boot.
Thanks for all your advice and recommendations!!

I have the Stirling boot, they are nice and smart, quite comfy when worn in too.

Also have the Xcellsior leggings, they are ok but a bit thin and don't offer a huge amount of support like a proper gaiter would, mine also stretched a lot and now fall down, I bought the narrowest size available (struggled to get them on when I first bought them). I bought the Ariats I mentioned above as can't go hunting in gaiters that fall down, not impressed and won't buy again, choice of sizing is too small

ETA: Rideaway have the leggings for £35 in the sale if you're a small or large size.
