OK have been living in a pair of mountain horse short boots for the last 18 months....I ride in them with half chaps, trudge through muck filled fields, hose them down, clean them up for local comps and very very rarely wear long black boots as I don't have a leather pair & my saddle is synthetic at the mo so the squeaking is a pain in the *ss.

They are starting to give up the ghost (to be fair they owe me nothing) but trying to decide what to buy next....

should I invest in a pair of long leather boots for comps (really like the mountain horse sportives (sp?)) & keep for comps, wear short boots until they fall apart & buy cheap pair of muck boots that I can wear all the time without having to mind them.)

Could just buy a good pair of wellies.....anyone ride in wellies?

what does anyone else (who isn't a serious compeitor & has limited budget) ride in/compete in/mess about the yard in.....

I'm afraid that I'm a multi boot type of gal.

I have yard boots (mountain horse), Hunters for the mud, Ariats and chaps for exercising, long leather boots for hunting.

I hate the look of mountain horse sportives I just do not think they look smart for the money. I am like Amy boots for all weathers - wellies for the field/mucking out, chaps and shorts for riding in and leather boots for competing. With this everything lasts for years so long term you look smart and save money.

Hmmmm

lots to think about....see I quite like the look of the sportives but I understand a lot of people don't like the fact that they are quite chunky....I have big feet anyway and reckon that regular boots actually make them look longer whereas the sportives are just generally chunkier...(how vain am I!)

having said that I'm never going to be competing at any great level just RC so...

Off to google some more!

I have size 9 feet so understand that! I currently have Ariats long leather boots I bought off ebay for £80. I want some Sarm hippique ones though as I am killing the Ariats slowly with wear. I am ultra fussy and I just think the MH ones always stand out and do not look that classy for the price.

I have got sum jod boots and leather gaiters for showing, jod boots and half chaps to ride in and sum hunter wellies for round the yard and in the mucky fields.
