I'm sure this is a stupid question, but what is the difference between long boots and jodhpur boots (with or without chaps)? I've heard that there's something to do with age... basically enlighten me :D Is an adult in a non-professional setting allowed to wear both? What about working, or competing?

What? Are you for real girl??? Lol!

Long boots are LONG and jodhpur boots are SHORT - which means you can wear chaps if you want to.

I would just wear one or the other tbh... never could get a pair of boots over another pair of boots...

:D

Sorry, didn't mean to be rude but it's quite a funny ol' question but completely fair!

I wear jodh boots and chaps for everyday, posh jodh boots with gaiters (leather chaps) for competition as I find it better to be flexible in the ankle, used to wear long boots only years ago for protection mainly but they now feel too restrictive after years of short (jodh) boots and chaps.

Personal preference :)

I guess it comes down to personal preference. I like jodh boots and chaps because I can feel the horse more and my ankles really start to hurt in long boots. They go numb sometimes with my poor circulation. Atleast in jodh boots I can move my ankles a bit freer.

depends on your discipline, in showing children and riders of small breeds wear brown/oxblood short boots, adults and large breed riders wear black long boots. other disciplines tend to be long boots or a combination of boots and chaps/gaitors at all ages and levels.
