Subject to vetting I may be getting a young horse. She's a bit unbalanced and has a big movement so her legs fly everywhere. I'm not sure which boots to put her in for flatwork and hacking, as I want something that is both supportive and which will give enough protection from the impact of her getting her legs in a tangle.

Any suggestions?

The Woof wear oxy tendon boots are good, they have a hard outer 'shell' and an inner air type lining I've had a pair for a year and they still look really smart I just washed them for the first time yesterday and they look good as new! You can use the 'shell' part on its own over bandages apparently but i havent tried it

My youngster is the same.. i put pro choice sports boots on him because they cover well. They cover like the equilibrium ones but are thicker for more protection.

Premier equine do these good eventing boots with a really hard strike pad on the back which I have also found really handy. I only bought them recently so sure they are still on their website.

Thanks Squizz - PE have loads on thier website, so have emailed them to ask which they would recommend. Its trying to find that balance of "support" and "impact protection", and being flexible enough for her to move naturally.

no worries.. I have just looked and they have their kevlar sports boots reduced to £15 which is pretty good.

My baby is jumping at the moment and very green and a bit clumsy. Be carefull not to protect their legs too much. Whilst you certainly don't want to hurt them letting them knock their legs on a pole or into each other will help them learn not to do it. When I started taking mine jumping I was told to swap the big protecting sports boots for the lighter event boots which still really protect and have the strike pad down the back but are lioght enough for him to feel it when he hits the pole.

100% reccomend PE products though.. have only ordered a few bits but to date they have been really good quality products.
