Boots for hunting/XC - sports medicine??

which boots do you XC or hunt in? i am thinking of buying a set of professionals choice sports medicine boots for going out hunting but i am worried in case my horse will sweat under them!

does anyone use these boots and what do they think of them? the elite or the sports medicine boots 2?

also these boots claim to retain heat which they say is good for the legs but i read an article somewhere saying that it was bad for legs to get warm under boots because it makes the tendons soft?

I always thought it was best for the legs to be kept as cool as possible? But maybe theres something i dont know?

Have used sport medicine boots for a horse with tendon problems and were really good used them for everything including XC found them really supportive.
 
I thought it had been proven that heating tendons makes them more likely to be damaged (or at least there is more evidence to suggest this)...?! For this reason I don't want to use my SMBs (after buying them, then I researched them! D'oh!) as it's just not worth risking my mare's tendon tearing again. IMO I'd say the risk of damage to the tendons by the heat outweighs the benefits of having a supportive boot (for my horse at least). The only wraps I will use are the Equilibrium ones as they are breathable (and very good). I suppose you could argue that the amount of heat created by competing at lower levels in SMBs would not be enough to damage tendons (more likely if you went round Badminton in them), but still. I wouldn't hunt in them anyway, or do XC. I don't know if there are any boots out there suitable for hunting though that don't get grit stuck under them. SMBs are meant to be good for keeping dirt out though!
I XC mine in Prolites, although if new horsey doesn't get on with them I'll be investing in some air-cooled Premier Equine boots (or Dalmars if I win the lottery!)
