For the horse not human! Although I do have a similar problem myself
Hi everyone, first post in quite a while. I'm after the advice of those of you who have ponies with short cobby legs. Some of you may remember my Mum's little pony, Dude. I think when I last posted he was a weedy little 2 year old that was just learning how to wear a rug. Well anyway, fast forward 2 years and he's now blossomed into a very strapping 4 year old, broken, happily scoring late 60s early 70s at prelim and just being totally awesome.
I've just recently fully clipped him as he had hair like a yak and was getting very hot and itchy, even whilst out in the field on holiday. I took his feathers off at the same time as noticed he'd been bothering at them a bit; got lots of grime out but nothing too sinister and he seems happier so they're staying off.
The only issue is that he's got quite a big, expressive stride and keeps knocking the backs of his front legs (not really an issue I'd accounted for with a cob)! I don't want him to keep knocking himself and then be reluctant to step through because it hurts, so am looking to get him some boots. Being the owner of the yards resident sick note, I've amassed quite the collection of boots. However, none fit Dude in any way shape or form
.
I've found him a couple of pairs of overreachs, so he's at least got those for now.
I've tried on, Cob, Pony, and Full sized boots in different brands and styles. The Pony size was way to small width wise (about an inch to short, maybe a little more), but I'd say perfect length. Those were Shires Arma tendon boots.
I then tried some Hy Impact wrap around schooling boots in Cob, length again was great, but just way too narrow to fit the whole way round his leg! I also tried my Hy Impact brushing boots of the same size, they fit around beautifully, but were way too long.
My last resort was my girls field boots, which I think are called pro sport or something similar. They're Full and just didn't fit full stop, too long but, also still only just wide enough
.
Idea's from anyone with better knowledge of cobby type boots is most welcome please. Ideally not too expensive as I think he's still got a little more growing to do.
Sorry for the rambling, and well done if you made it to the end. Pictures of the wee one as a thank you.

Mum's very lucky to have this awesome baby. Fingers crossed the pictures work, I've not done this for a while
