What boots do you turn out your horses in ? if any ? am wondering about getting some boots for turn out but don't want to buy some that won't cope in the mud and come off within 10 minutes, if anyone can recommend me some that would be brilliant! Thanks

I used to ude Sportabac turnout socks but they don;t make them anymore. Have found some exactly the same from Dragonfly Saddlery, for about £25 a pair and they seem to be doign fine - look just the same as the sportabac ones and the cheapest turnout boot I could find.

Just a note though, you might need a size up if you go for these ones. I got a size 2 for fronts and 3 for hinds. The 2's were a bit too small. My horse is only just over 15hh with little legs.

Is there any way you can get away with turning out bare legged? I had the equilibrium hardy chaps, as the horse they were for got a little 'excited' out in the field! It was a disaster, though - they gave him cellulitis (as well as breaking after a month or two). I'd suggest normal brushing boots if you feel he needs protection under certain circumstances, but for the most part I'd recommend turnout without boots - better for the tendons :)
